Largest Producing Countries: Haiti, Jamaica, South and Central America.

Traditional Use: Local fisherman and traders call it “candlewood” because of its high oil content and common use as a torch.

Therapeutic Properties and common uses: Anti-septic (a substance that inhibits the growth and reproduction of microorganisms),

emollient (something which softens or lubricates the skin), sedative (calming, soothing, inducing sleep, tranquilizing), deodorant (any agent acting to eliminate, reduce, mask, or control odor).

Spiritual Uses: anointing, astral projection, attraction, blessings (to give and receive), consecration, exorcism, healing, love, meditation, protection, purification/cleansing, sacral chakra.

Blends Well With: Cedarwood, citronella, ginger, ho wood, lavender, oakmoss, peru balsam, ylang ylang and any wood essential oils.

Of Interest: Also known as West Indian Sandalwood. It has been used as a cheap substitute for East Indian Sandalwood (Santalum album). However they have different aromas and viscosities.
